Between What Was and What Is

Between What Was and What Is references the literal space between the three states that I call home, New York, California, and Georgia; the relationships between myself and each of my family members; as well as the space between who I am, who I want to be, and who I project myself as. The images in this series incorporate "reflections" of myself both in mirrors and in family photographs. Throughout the process I explored the the highs and lows of my intense relationship with my parents.  I bare the emotions that flood the spaces between us, both the great love and support we have for one another and the anger and hurt we pour out in times of strife.  The self portraits in the series acknowledge the woman that I have become, as I make my life in New York, and the girl that remains when I am with my family.
